First time visiting?

Mt. Carmel is a place where traditional faith intersects progressive values.

We are a Christ-centered faith community whose reason for being is to share God’s love through worship, service and community. We strive to be a loving, accepting, and healing force in our church, our city, and the world.

A Reconciling in Christ congregation, Mt. Carmel welcomes all people regardless of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation or gender identity.

Ash Wednesday Reflections

Ninety-nine percent of the human body is made up of six elements: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. The rest: potassium, sulfur
sodium, chlorine, and magnesium complete us. Pretty impressive!

All of these elements are found in space. What makes life happen is not only the right chemistry. There are factors like a planet must be just the right distance from its sun, it can't be too hot or too cold, and having an abundant supply of water is also important. We are both of the stars and of the ground.

On Ash Wednesday, followers of Jesus gather and have ashes mixed with a little Olive Oil. The Pastor says, "Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust" while marking the person with the sign of the cross. While we are of the earth, we are also heavenly creatures. Think about that!

The Good Samaritan Fund

Mt. Carmel has set up a charity called the Good Samaritan Fund. Donations made to this will help those in need in our community.
